Signal Ocean is a leading technology company that specializes in providing innovative solutions for the commercial shipping industry. Our primary product is the Signal Ocean platform, which utilizes a combination of ship tracking and commercial data to empower the shipping community with informed decision-making capabilities.
We deliver these insights to our customers through both web-based and mobile applications, which are constantly updated and developed to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Additionally, we collaborate with shipping companies' research teams and data scientists to offer tailored solutions through our range of APIs and SDKs.
About the RoleThis graduate program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to thrive in the dynamic world of commercial shipping. Over a period of approximately 18-24 months, you will gain a well-rounded understanding of the industry, develop technical expertise, and learn the ropes of client success management.
You will gain unparalleled exposure to a vast array of international shipping companies across APAC and the Middle East. The program is divided into stages, providing a structured learning journey with hands-on experience.
Program StructureThe graduate scheme is managed by the SVP of Sales, and day-to-day supervision will rotate across various teams involved. The program consists of five stages:
Stage 1: Academies and Client SuccessYou will participate in our three in-house academies, which will provide you with a foundational understanding of the commercial shipping industry. You will also work closely with our Client Success team to gain hands-on experience in client-facing roles.
- Tanker Chartering Academy: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the commercial shipping industry, including its fast-paced nature and commercial functions.
- Product Rotation Academy: Learn about Signal's product offerings, including the business background, scope, key actions, and data flow for each product team.
- Tech Sales Academy: Develop strong commercial acumen, covering areas such as landing new sales, onboarding new clients, client training, collections, invoicing, salesforce, pricing lists, renewals, and upselling.
Work alongside our API technical team to leverage Python SDKs and SQL to create valuable assets. Develop case studies showcasing the power of Signal's APIs in tackling real-world challenges in the shipping industry.
- Focus areas may include global oil and dry bulk flow analysis, port congestion insights, and global vessel supply visualization.
Identify and develop new business opportunities through research and outreach. Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients. Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the value of our software solutions.
- Negotiate and close sales deals to achieve or exceed sales targets.
- Learn to track, develop, and manage your sales pipeline in a structured way.
Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring their satisfaction and success with our software solutions. Understand client needs and objectives to provide tailored support and recommendations.
- Monitor and analyze customer usage and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and upsell opportunities.
- Collaborate with the sales, support, and development teams to address customer issues and enhance the product, driving wider client adoption across their organizations.
Upon successful completion of the graduate program, we will offer you a position within our commercial team, depending on your aspirations, strengths, and our current business needs.
The career path envisioned for graduates includes roles such as Sales, Client Success, Technical Sales, or other positions within the international commercial team.
RequirementsTo be eligible for this graduate program, you should possess the following qualifications:
- A good Diploma/University degree in maritime studies, business, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience in a relevant industry, fresh graduates with no experience are welcome to apply.
- Proficiency in using software, a data-driven mindset.
- Commercial awareness of the maritime industry.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Highly motivated, self-starter, strong team player.
- Adaptable, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Geographically mobile and willingness to travel.
- Business fluency in written and oral English. Any other language is a strong plus.
