At SPD Singapore (www.spd.org.sg), we are dedicated to empowering persons with disabilities to achieve independence and improve their quality of life. As an Employment Support Specialist, you'll play a vital role in bridging job opportunities between employers and persons with disabilities — whether in open, supported, or sheltered employment — helping to build more inclusive workplaces and enable meaningful employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.1 Engage employers towards securing job and internship opportunities for clients in open, supported and/or sheltered employment.

1.2 Facilitate resolution of employment issues for clients so that they can sustain in the job.

1.3 Recommend appropriate training for clients to enhance their employability.

1.4 Perform job placement duties, including workplace assessment, employment negotiation, job task analysis and job carving.

1.5 Provide job coaching including pre-employment preparation, on-the-job training and facilitation of a support network for clients.

1.6 Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of clients and employers' information including assessment, pre-placement engagement, job placement and job support.

1.7 Contribute to clients' retention by engaging supervisors and co-workers of clients, facilitating conflict resolution and providing the necessary assistance to employers, caregivers and clients.

1.8 Work with AT specialists to recommend suitable assistive technology devices to improve efficiency of clients at work.

1.9 Any other duties as assigned by the Programme Head as and when necessary.

JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENT

· Diploma/Degree holder, preferably in psychology, social work, occupational therapy or related disciplines.

· At least 2 years of experience working with persons with disabilities.

· A strong team player with initiative, adaptable and able to multi-task.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as ability to manage and engage multiple stakeholders.

· Proficient in computer skills.

· Experience in working with clients with autism spectrum disorder will be an advantage.
