Quantity Surveyor Job Description

This is a challenging role that requires strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Review architectural plans and prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Estimate quantities and costs of projects based on drawings and client details.
  • Prepare tender documents for submissions and track changes in plans or constructions.
  • Negotiate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Document progress, materials, and changes in contracts.
  • Sourcing materials and subcontractors, developing working relationships with them.
  • Utilizing software to calculate, record, and estimate costs effectively.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in general construction estimating, financial management, or related field.
  • Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to analyze financial records and apply data to improve results.
  • Strong aptitude for numbers, spreadsheets, and financial reports.
  • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets, with strong estimating and financial analysis skills.
  • In-depth understanding of construction, materials, pricing, and industry.
