Position Overview
The Business Development Manager (Events & Operations) is responsible for the comprehensive planning and execution of all company events and group buy activities. This includes developing the annual events calendar for the following year, preparing detailed event schedules, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining brand presentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Events Management
1. Annual Event Planning
- Develop and maintain the annual event calendar, mapping all roadshows, PR activities, department store activations, and subsidiary brand events.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Retail, and Operations to align event timing with product launches, sales campaigns, and business goals.
- Propose preliminary budgets and resource requirements for each planned event.
- Ensure the calendar allows sufficient lead time for permits, space bookings, and logistics preparation.
2. Pre-Event Preparation
- Create detailed event execution plans including task timelines, manpower schedules, and vendor responsibilities.
- Liaise with various stakeholders
- Secure venue bookings, permits, safety clearances, and insurance (where applicable).
- Prepare and confirm stock allocation, equipment purchases/rentals, packing lists, and inventory counts.
3. On-Site Set-Up & Live Operations
- Oversee delivery and unloading of goods and fixtures.
- Ensure booth/event set-up follows approved layout with accurate product placement and branding.
- Conduct final safety checks and layout inspections before opening.
- Deploy and manage manpower for set-up crew.
- Work with Retail Manager for event support teams.
- Supervise live event operations, resolving operational issues and ensuring brand consistency.
4. Tear-Down & Post-Event
- Supervise dismantling, packing, and removal within venue deadlines.
- Oversee return of stock and equipment, ensuring no loss or damage.
- Conduct post-event debrief with stakeholders to review performance, vendor service, and operational gaps.
- Record learnings to improve future events and update the annual events calendar accordingly.
Group Buy Development & Operations
1. Customer Engagement & Communication
- Share Group Buy information, product details, and important updates clearly on social channel.
- Engage with customers in real-time, answering product-related questions and addressing concerns.
- Explain product features, benefits, and usage to encourage informed purchasing decisions.
- Maintain a friendly, professional tone to build trust and loyalty within the group buy community.
2. Order & Fulfilment Coordination
- Track and manage customer orders.
- Liaise with Customer Service and Logistics to ensure accurate order processing and timely delivery.
- Manage any after-sales issues such as returns, exchanges, or product queries, directing them to relevant departments.
4. Performance Review
- Monitor campaign participation, sales volume, and customer feedback.
- Prepare reports on group buy performance and recommend improvements
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Events Management, Business, Marketing, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in event execution, retail activations, or similar roles.
- Proven track record in building and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
- Experience managing online sales channels or community platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with Singapore event compliance, safety requirements, and permits.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent people skills with the ability to engage, influence, and manage diverse stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills for vendor and partner management.
- Organisational and multitasking ability to manage multiple projects under tight timelines.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite; experience with project management tools is an advantage.
