Position Overview

The Operations Manager will oversee the daily management, production, and performance of the concrete batching plant(s). This role is responsible for ensuring efficient operations, consistent product quality, customer satisfaction, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Operations Manager will lead plant supervisors, drivers, dispatch, and maintenance teams, ensuring smooth coordination across departments to meet business and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plant & Production Management

  2. Oversee daily batching plant operations, ensuring efficient scheduling, production, and delivery of ready-mix concrete.

  3. Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
  4. Manage inventory of raw materials (cement, aggregates, admixtures) and coordinate timely procurement.

  5. Implement measures to reduce waste, improve output, and optimize plant utilization.

  6. Operational Efficiency & Cost Control

  7. Develop and implement strategies to improve plant performance and operational efficiency.

  8. Monitor KPIs including production volume, overtime meeting MOM requirements, cycle times, and delivery performance.

  9. Control operational costs through effective planning, maintenance, and resource utilization.

  10. Team Leadership & Workforce Management

  11. Lead, train, and motivate plant supervisors, drivers, operators, and support staff.

  12. Oversee workforce scheduling, discipline, and performance evaluations.

  13. Foster a strong safety and performance culture across all teams.

  14. Quality Assurance & Customer Service

  15. Ensure compliance with quality standards, testing protocols, and customer specifications.

  16. Liaise with sales and dispatch teams to ensure on-time delivery and excellent customer service.

  17. Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality or delivery.

  18. Safety, Compliance & Maintenance

  19. Enforce strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations.

  20. Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, trucks, and vehicles.

  21. Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and hazards.

  22. Strategic & Business Support

  23. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term operational planning.

  24. Provide management with regular operational reports and performance analysis.
  25. Support growth initiatives, plant expansions, and adoption of new technologies.
Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in ready-mix concrete, construction materials, or heavy manufacturing operations.
  • Proven experience managing teams, plant operations, and logistics.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of concrete production processes, mix designs, and batching systems.
  • Knowledge of ERP or batching plant management software (e.g., Command Alkon).
  • Familiarity with occupational safety standards, environmental regulations, and ISO/QC systems.
