What you will be responsible for:
Summary
Acts as sales and relationship manager for MFS clients in Korea. Gathers and retains assets from new and existing clients. Develops and maintains a close and direct relationship with clients.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as the primary contact for clients regarding all aspects of the relationship with MFS primarily in Korea and potentially support other parts of Asia ex Japan as and when required.
- Maintains, expands, and communicates knowledge of all client's needs, concerns and overall satisfaction with MFS, through frequent contact (direct, written, and verbal) and portfolio review meetings. Provides same services to client consultants, as necessary.
- Maintains full record of meetings and discussions with clients and understanding of client's business and executive personnel, financial, competitive and technological development.
- Prepare and conduct quarterly or semi-annual portfolio updates and reviews along with Institutional Portfolio Managers. Oversees all aspects of preparation for client reviews and leads meetings.
- To conduct portfolio reviews in Korean language either by himself/herself for smaller tier clients without the investment team or do the interpretation for the investment team.
- Interacts with other MFS departments (Client Service, Investment, Legal, Accounting, Compliance) to ensure that client needs are being met at all levels. Works with transition team to smoothly establish new accounts.
- Gather new clients primarily in Korea and in other parts of Asia ex Japan as and when required.
- Anticipates and develops opportunities to expand and strengthen the relationship. Know client's evolving and changing investment needs and initiate action to capitalize on them. Involves other MFS personnel as necessary in this process.
- Maintain close contacts with local consultants.
- Assist MD Asia ex-Japan in all sales efforts for the whole region and assume additional responsibilities as and when requested.
- Retain and gather new assets from existing clients. Educates client on multi-service capabilities of MFS; keeps client informed of products and enhancements within MFS, relevant industry information and developments in financial markets. Anticipates risks to the relationships, take steps to protect them, and keeps manager appraised.
- Works with Investment Team to ensure investment presentations and marketing materials are impactful.
- Keeps appropriate parties (Sales, Marketing, Portfolio Management, MFSI Management) abreast of client needs and developments to ensure that goals are met.
- Develop sub-advisory relationships with local asset management firms, life insurance companies and consultants.
- Understand needs of both the sub advisor and their underlying clients.
- Deploy firm resources to meet need for product information and marketing support.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum ten years’ investment-related or asset management or financial experience with at least five years’ experience in direct institutional client relationship capacity.
- Demonstrated passion for developing and nurturing client relationships.
- Expertise in and good knowledge of global equity and fixed income markets is required.
- Solid understanding of the institutional landscape in Korea.
- A strong track record in sales and delivering exemplary client service.
- Self-confidence but an ability to listen and consider other people’s points of view
- Collegiate team player, experienced and comfortable working in an international operating environment.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and a self-starter.
- Strong work ethic.
- Demonstrate high level of integrity.
