Job Scope

The Pastry Sous Chef will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pastry department, ensuring that all food products meet the highest standards of quality and presentation. This includes managing the production of pastries, cakes, and other sweet treats, as well as maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the production of pastries, cakes, and other sweet treats
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Supervise and train pastry staff
  • Ensure that all food products meet the highest standards of quality and presentation
  • Monitor inventory and place orders for ingredients and supplies
  • Develop and implement new recipes and menu items
  • Collaborate with the executive chef and other kitchen staff to ensure seamless service
  • Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed
  • Maintain accurate records and reports

Requirements

  • Vocational school or above
  • Culinary diploma or certificate
  • 5 years of supervision experience in a 4-5 star hotel or quality restaurant
  • Strong culinary experience, proven organizational skills, and excellent leadership and supervisory skills
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
  • Able to instill safety and sanitation habits
  • Willing and able to work shift work
  • Have a well-groomed, professional appearance
  • People and customer-oriented, motivator, and self-starter
  • Team builder, displays initiative and creativity
