South Asia Property Manager

Purpose:
The South Asia Property Manager role has overall accountability for development, underwriting and portfolio management across the Mid-Market and Major Account segments. The role is responsible for embedding best in class underwriting, sales and servicing standards regionally.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement plans and objectives to increase premium volume, meet short and long term underwriting production and profit goals. Proactive engagement with Brokers / Partners on major accounts and to promote products and services, deal negotiations, referrals etc. Maintain liaison with Brokers to obtain necessary underwriting information, promote satisfactory service relationships, and encourage submissions of targeted business. Regular review of internal underwriting controls and recommend changes to internal procedures as necessary. Collaborate with Head of Property Asia and segment leaders to establish effective and actionable develop business development plans for the Property line of business Develop strong relationships with Property Underwriters across SEA – making face to face visits to meet with them in-country, understand their skills, capabilities and expereince, identify learning gaps and ways to close them, keep them motivated and focused with regular communication and engagement on your strategy and deliverables, celebrate successes. Timely review of new business and renewal submissions, and provide guidance to in-country teams to enhance new business pipelines, improve risk selection and strike rates. Interpret and analyse financial reports / data, including accuracy in Forecasts, Rate Monitoring, Cat Modelling data, etc. Implement improvements in process and technology to enhance sales and servicing across Segments. Evaluate, accept, reject or modify risks within established underwriting guidelines. Guide Property product underwriters in arriving at acceptance/rejection decisions on risks beyond their authority. Prepare submissions for COG review. Train, coach, develop and evaluate Property underwriting staff to assure required level of expertise, performance and succession viability. Ensure that underwriting audits are conducted and completed and that feedback to management and Property underwriters is documented and followed up. Keeping informed of new developments in underwriting activities and competitive practices and integrating learning into the product and the business plan. Developing and maintaining relationships with various industry, trade, and rating organizations. Ten + years’ experience in underwriting a large Regional book of property business in a production role with a proven record. Bachelors degree or an MBA and Insurance certification. A minimum of five years leadership experience including training and developing property underwriting staff. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and negotiate terms effectively. Strong financial / analytical skills and excellent problem solving / decision-making abilities. Experience chairing client meetings and excellent presentation skills. Ability to work well under pressure while managing multiple priorities. Sound project management experience. English fluency is mandatory. Fluency or proficiency with an Asian language is a plus.-
