About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and organised Junior Sous Chef to join our team at Bibik Café, a new casual local-style dining concept by Violet Oon. The role is ideal for an experienced CDP ready to step up into a leadership role, balancing hands-on cooking with supervisory responsibilities in a fast-paced café environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Kitchen Leadership & Supervision

  • Assist the Head Chef / Sous Chef in managing daily kitchen operations.

  • Supervise and guide CDPs, Commis, and kitchen helpers to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Oversee food preparation (light cooking, local café-style dishes) and timely service.
  • Standards & Quality

  • Ensure food quality, presentation, and portioning align with recipes and brand standards.

  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of all kitchen work areas and equipment.
  • Enforce compliance with food safety and WSH standards.
  • Operations & Admin

  • Support inventory control, ordering, and receiving of supplies.

  • Assist with menu planning, updates, and implementation of specials/promotions.
  • Monitor kitchen expenses to support cost efficiency.
  • Training & Development

  • Mentor and train junior staff to develop culinary skills and work discipline.

  • Conduct briefings and communicate effectively with both kitchen and service teams.
  • Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with FOH colleagues to ensure smooth service flow.

  • Step in to cover Sous Chef duties when required.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2–3 years of culinary experience, including experience as a CDP.
  • Exposure to local flavours, café-style dining, or casual dining concepts preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to grow with a new brand.
