
Administrative Resource Manager

The Administrative Resource Manager will be responsible for the development of a collegial working relationship with SMART’s Integrated Disciplinary Research Groups, National Research Foundation Staff, SMART Colleagues, and MIT Faculty and Staff. The individual will assist with all administrative and financial facets for a large scale interdisciplinary research group. The Administrative Resource Manager will work closely with the SMART Executive Office, Accounting Manager, Human Resources Manager, and Special Projects Manager for tasks to ensure efficient administrative operations.
**Duties and responsibilities**:
- Responsible for providing comprehensive administrative services to SMART research programmes;
- Manage human resources (HR), finance, research administration, and space functions in coordination with headquarters area managers;
- Will work closely with the programmes principle investigators (PI) and Staff for all administrative matters;
- Provide guidance to staff for SMART’s financial and administrative policies and procedures;
- Plan and coordinate budget and expense submission; monitor expenditures;
- Assist with the researcher recruitment, selection, and hiring process;
- Assist employee relations;
- Prepare reports;
- Assist with the coordination, submission and monitoring of external grants,
- Manage space changes; and
- Perform other duties as necessary.
**Job Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree with at least three years’ direct management experience (years of experience may be substituted for demonstrated specific skills), preferably in research environment
- Excellent analytical, financial, organizational, leadership, supervisory, interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive/confidential matters
- Experience overseeing budgets and executing accounting transactions
- Willingness to learn; resourceful; proactive and flexible approach to responsibilities and problem-solving in a rapidly evolving organization
- Ability to manage changing and conflicting priorities
