**WHAT IS THIS POSITION ABOUT?**
- The incumbent is a member of the local management team whose key role is to support the business decision-making process by providing strategic advice on the local operating environment. The position holder monitors, analyses, and seeks to shape the latest and upcoming legislative and regulatory developments as they affect JTI's business. The person is responsible for engaging with various government agencies or influential third-party stakeholders to champion the company's external and internal reputation-building initiatives and secure its long-term commercial interests in the market.
**WHAT WILL YOU DO?**
- **Regulatory Affairs**:
- Monitor, Anticipate, and analyze changes in the local operating environment in the market for any commercial risks and competitive opportunities for the company. Develop, plan, and implement strategies and programs that shape the operating environment in a proactive, practical, and responsible manner that is driven by the company's commercial objectives.
- **External Relations**:
- Direct the development and execution of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan of key political, governmental & business partners as well as various third-party stakeholders and the media for the purposes of conveying specific business concerns to ensure the company's business interests are secured.
- **Internal and External Communications**:
- Provide direction on various leadership communication platforms in line with JTI corporate guidelines for the GM and local management team to effectively and efficiently communicate and engage internally with employees on both the corporate level and local market business plans, company policy changes, and compliance initiatives. Supervise all external communication initiatives.
- **Community Investment and Sustainability**:
- Provide direction on various corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiatives in line with JTI corporate guidelines to contribute back to the society where the market is operating. These are strategically linked to the company's long-term business and sustainability plans.
- **People Management**:
- Develop, motivate, and guide the professional development of the team reporting directly and indirectly to the incumbent.
**WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?**
- **University degree holder and above**:
- **At least 8 to 10 years experience with government or regulatory agencies, management consulting or media companies, or working within corporate government relations/public affairs, legal or public relations functions.**:
- **Fluency in English language. Knowledge of any additional local languages/dialects is an advantage.**:
- **Functional Skills**
- **Well-versed in current political affairs impacting the industry.**:
- **Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence and work across complex teams.**:
- **Agility to develop, plan, and execute bespoke and innovative solutions to solve the various practical problems facing the company in a timely manner.**
