Baker Hughes is a large and growing energy technology company with operations in over 120 countries, including a strong presence throughout Asia Pacific with a core corporate, manufacturing and operations footprint in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore. This position serves as the primary government affairs support for our APAC leadership, and will also work within a diverse global government affairs team to protect and advance the company’s interests across all regions, product companies and corporate functions. The position is based in Singapore and reports directly to the VP, Global Government Affairs.

As the Director, Global Government Affairs - Asia Pacific, you will be responsible for:

- Leading Baker Hughes government affairs engagement for APAC, and working with partners in Legal, Corporate Affairs, Finance and other functions to execute our public policy strategy;
- Identifying, tracking and effectively communicating public policy developments to the business and to the Global Government Affairs team, and formulating practical recommendations for the company’s response;
- Strengthening the company’s positioning as a key technology enabler of the Energy Transition, with an emphasis on APAC climate policies, funding, and company participation in key coalitions/working groups;
- Representing the company in key trade associations and other relevant, non-governmental organizations;
- Managing relevant third-party consultants and service providers;
- Coordinating APAC commercial advocacy;
- Managing recordkeeping and reporting consistent with applicable public ethics laws.

To be successful in this role, you will:

- Possess substantial expertise in energy and climate policy, and an existing network of constructive relationships at meaningful levels of government;
- Demonstrate a confident, composed and clear communication style, and the poise and experience to interact with senior leaders inside and outside of the company who reflect the diversity of cultures and customs of the countries in which we operate;
- Multi-task effectively and balance competing or quickly changing priorities, at times under tight deadline;
- Focus on internal stakeholder care and responsiveness, with strong interpersonal awareness;
- Anticipate needs and make judgement calls within your sphere of responsibilities;
- Have a minimum of 10 years professional experience in government and/or government advocacy on behalf of a company, trade association or government affairs firm;
- Fluent (verbal/written) in English and at least one APAC language (e.g., Malay)
- Ability to travel ~20%;
- Highly value integrity, kindness and a sense of humor.
