Strategic HR Advisor Role

In this role, you will build strong partnerships with senior leaders and HR Centres of Excellence teams to develop and execute People Strategies and solutions for the College/Schools.

You will play a key role in leading and coaching a team of HR Business Partners and HR Generalists in delivering HR services and initiatives.

This position has a primary reporting line into the Office of Human Resources and a matrix reporting line into the assigned business unit.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and strengthen the capability and effectiveness of the HR team.
  • Become a trusted HR advisor to senior stakeholders and managers, demonstrating strong professional credibility.
  • Gain intimate knowledge of business needs and translate them into a HR agenda, ensuring HR programs are fit for purpose.
  • Collaborate with Dean, School Chairs, Centre Directors, HR Business Partners, and NTU Shared Services - HR to develop and deliver HR solutions.
  • Provide expert advice on HR policies, employment legislation, performance management, recruitment, and rewards strategies.
  • Educate People Managers and employees on policy changes and implications, gathering feedback and inputs.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of HR programs and continuous improvement projects for Faculty, Researchers, and Administration staff.
  • Oversee the facilitation of Annual Performance Management cycles and central performance review meetings.
  • Support employee relations matters, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and unsatisfactory performance.
Requirements:
  • At least 12 years of relevant HR experience, including 5 years in a supervisory/leadership position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influence over various stakeholders.
  • A strategic mindset, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to diagnose current state, anticipate future needs, and recommend approaches.
  • A good understanding of local employment law and HR practices, and familiarity with emerging HR trends.
  • Collaborative, agile, and resourceful, with a comfort level in matrix structures and fast-paced environments.
  • Strong initiative to drive change and a mindset for continuous improvement and service excellence.
