Job Title:

A Guidance Professional plays a vital role in supporting the students' emotional and academic well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Counselling Students:
    • Provide direct counselling intervention for High School Section and College Section students as needed
    • Collaborate with the HS Well-Being Centre to design and implement effective counselling approaches
    • Coordinate with the Case Management Team to provide timely support for students requiring counselling
    • Make home visits for students unable to attend school
  • Working with Staff:
    • Offer consultations to staff on managing students with academic, behavioural, and emotional issues
    • Source and provide counselling training & workshops for staff to enhance their affective skills
    • Collaborate with relevant staff teams to set up upstream prevention strategies
  • Working with Parents:
    • Offer consultations to parents on managing students with academic, behavioural, and emotional issues
    • Conduct and/or coordinate workshops for parents to align expectations with the school's and strengthen their parenting skills
  • School Duties:
    • Provide counselling support during school emergencies as part of the Caring Action in Response to Emergencies (CARE) team
    • Collaborate with the Student Development Team in designing and implementing affective and well-being programmes
  • Curriculum Design and Implementation:
    • Collaborate with the Student Development Team in designing and implementing a guidance curriculum in the High School Section
    • Work with the Student Development Team in designing and implementing programmes to promote students' social and emotional growth
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the Reporting Officer, Deans, Deputy Principal, or Principal

Requirements:

Qualifications: Graduate qualification in counselling, counselling psychology, or clinical psychology.
Skills: Preferably registered counsellor/clinical supervisor with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC), or registered psychologist with the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS).
Experience: Minimum ONE year professional counselling experience and competent in case management and critical incident management. Proficient in professional counselling approaches and tools to help clients with diverse issues and conditions. Experience working with young adults, preferably in a school setting. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and conducting/facilitating continual Professional Development training for staff advantageous.
Personal Qualities: Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
