Desktop Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Desktop Support Specialist to provide expert-level technical support for desktop and laptop issues.

  • Install, configure and upgrade desktop hardware, operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux), and software applications with precision and efficiency.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex desktop hardware, software and networking issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure seamless business operations.
  • Ensure desktops and laptops adhere to rigorous security standards, including patching, antivirus software and system updates, to safeguard sensitive data and protect against cyber threats.
  • Configure user accounts, permissions and profiles within the IT environment to optimize productivity and enhance user experience.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktop network connectivity, ensuring secure and uninterrupted access to company resources and tools.
  • Deploy software applications and system updates via remote deployment tools and scripting, streamlining the process and reducing downtime.
  • Document all support tickets, technical procedures and configurations in a centralized knowledge base for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform routine checks, preventive maintenance and repair of desktop equipment to prevent technical issues and maintain optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to assist in projects related to desktop deployment, migrations and upgrades, driving innovation and excellence in IT service delivery.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • At least 2 years of experience in desktop support, IT helpdesk or similar technical roles, with a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows, macOS and Linux desktop environments, with expertise in troubleshooting and resolving software-related issues.
  • Familiarity with common desktop applications and networking concepts, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP and VPN, to ensure seamless connectivity and efficient communication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware issues, with a strong understanding of desktop hardware components and their configuration.
  • Experience using remote desktop tools and software deployment technologies to streamline processes and enhance user experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with end-users, management and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple deadlines to deliver high-quality results under pressure.
