Job Title: Senior Kitchen Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled Commis Chef to join our culinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to work with a Michelin-starred chef couple in a luxurious 30-seat restaurant, showcasing the rich flavors of Latin American cuisine.

The ideal candidate will report to the Chef de Partie and assist the team with various meal preparations. Key responsibilities include gathering ingredients, measuring them correctly, assisting with meat seasoning and chopping vegetables, taking inventory stock and placing orders for new food items, organizing and labeling food items correctly, and maintaining excellent hygiene practices.

To succeed in this role, you should be familiar with various food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment, have good time management and organizational skills, strong communication and listening skills, ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, ability to work at flexible hours and on weekends, and be a team player with attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Chef de Partie with meal preparations
  • Gather and accurately measure all meal ingredients
  • Prepare basic dishes such as salads and sauces
  • Keep track of inventory supplies and ensure that food items are stocked properly in refrigerators and freezers
  • Maintain proper hygiene standards and ensure that the workstation remains clean
  • Plate various meal items
  • Accept deliveries of food items and maintain a stock record of the same
  • Dispose spoiled food items and expired products
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or a bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts
  • Proven work experience as a Commis Chef, Chef, Prep Cook or a similar role in the hospitality industry
  • Experience in MICHELIN and/or fine dining restaurants is highly advantageous
  • Complete knowledge of industry best practices, hygiene, and safety standards
