Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Legal and Compliance APAC to join our team at Intuitive Surgical. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the growth of and enhancing and maintaining our corporate compliance program in the APAC region, particularly in Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, India, and Australia/New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support business goals and objectives while building and maintaining a strong culture of compliance and ethics throughout the APAC region.
  • Develop, modify, and deliver live, virtual, and recorded training to educate and test employees on a broad range of APAC compliance and ethics topics.
  • Ensure open and effective lines of communication and information reporting at all levels of the APAC and global organizations.
  • Direct or support risk assessments, audit activities, third-party relationship management, and remediation activities with the country-level Legal and Compliance teams throughout the APAC region.
  • Monitor and benchmark the performance and effectiveness of compliance program execution in APAC on a continuing basis.
  • Collect and analyze targeted organizational data to help identify, prioritize, and address key risk areas.
  • Implement and supervise an effective compliance monitoring, testing, and review program throughout APAC.
  • Supervise the APAC internal compliance investigation program and lead individual investigations concerning allegations of wrongdoing.
Requirements
  • Minimum Undergraduate degree (BS/BA equivalent) and law degree (Solicitor equivalent) required.
  • Minimum 12 years legal and compliance experience, preferably partially in the life science, healthcare, hospital, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Fluency in Chinese and English required.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of applicable APAC compliance and ethics requirements and compliance risk-management practices and methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing training, education, and communication processes and programs.
  • Experience conducting compliance investigations and implementing remediation.
  • Ability to think strategically to resolve matters effectively and efficiently and to build collaborative relationships with senior management, business leaders, Audit, Legal, Clinical Affairs, GAVE, and HR.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Highly professional, considerate, and motivated to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong writing, presentation, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement cross-functional processes.
  • Occasional travel throughout APAC required.
