This director leads the Asia region's Human Resources function to design, implement and advise on human resource programs and policies, including performance management, discipline, compensation, benefits, equal opportunity and employee relations. He or she collaborates with regional senior leaders and influences decisions based on Compassion's cultural behaviors and global and regional goals and priorities. This person will provide direction through subordinate managers and staff in six countries regarding Compassion's human resource function and objectives. This advising responsibility includes hiring, discipline, and termination, as well as, coaching, performance management, workforce planning, and talent planning.

Responsibilities

Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.Provides leadership, planning and consultation to subordinates, executives, and peer management in the successful alignment of assigned department resources to ensure achievement of operational priorities and initiatives, integrating priorities within organizational strategies to ensure that department's purpose is fulfilled.Compiles or prepares and administers the Asia HR annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, SLAs, and other Compassion standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and board policies.Selects, manages and develops assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and annual reviews; supports continuous learning and development that enhances individual performance and organizational capability.Manages a regional team of approximately 12 Asia HR staff to ensure education and coaching of managers and employees, answering questions and instilling responsibility on employee relations, conflict resolution, discipline, performance management, staff development, termination, compensation, succession planning, benefits, talent acquisition, and similar topics. Performs those duties personally, as well, and may also lead recruiting, benefits administration, employee health and wellness, merit compensation processes, and other human resources related programs.Relying on her or his current and complete understanding of regional, national, international, and local laws and regulations covering employment issues in client countries, leads managers who protect Compassion's interests by ensuring the ministry is in compliance with legal requirements as well as providing and implementing relevant recommendations to the client groups on necessary practices/programs changes to meet these requirements.Responds to, investigates, and develops resolutions regarding complex internal stakeholder concerns around performance management, improvement, harassment, discrimination, misconduct, and similar matters.Advises regional leaders and executives to properly engage teams in achieving country and regional goals. Manages the implementation of timely programs, methods and tools to address issues that hinder team members’ levels of engagement and contribution.Influences cross-functional teams to evaluate and develop new or improved existing human resources programs and interventions with significant impact to Compassion. Further, uses human resource metrics to identify and analyze areas of improvement. Leads assigned team in accomplishing regular programs such as merit, benefits enrollment, pay adjustments, new employee orientation, and performance management.

Requirements

Education

Bachelor's Degree in a related field. 

Experience

10 years experience leading teams with at least five years leading Human Resources teams.

Language

Must be fluent in English.*Equivalent education, training and/or certification may be substituted for experience and education shown above

Working Environment

Remote Home Office or National Office.Must be available for very early or late weekly meetings.

Travel Requirements

May be required to travel up to 25% of normal schedule, and up to 50% in the first 90 days.
