Driven by our inquisitive nature, we fuse different capabilities and skills - Medical expertise with Commercial competence, technical skills with emotional intelligence. A team of enterprising leaders, our role is to connect and influence: aligning commercial and scientific goals and spotting opportunities to shape what’s next for AstraZeneca. In International Medical Affairs, what’s next is centred around improving patient outcomes and reducing health inequity across the markets we serve.
As the International Medical Director for Haematological Cancers, you will help shape the strategy for our novel platform of treatments that are in the pipeline as we expand our footprint across different haematological malignancies. Working cross-functionally in both the region and its countries to drive the delivery of medical objectives and build the medical capabilities and competencies in the teams. But also with global and external partners and with healthcare providers to improve care across the region. You can be based in Singapore, or one of the other International Office locations.
In more detail, you:
- Design the International medical and market shaping strategy for our haematology portfolio as well as co-create the regional brand strategy together with the commercial lead ensuring the commercial and medical strategies are fully aligned on key objectives.
- Work cross-functionally to provide the medical input and expertise for Regional Commercial, Regulatory, and Market Access functions.
- Support and influence the key area/country medical teams, ensuring they have the proper training, skills, and knowledge to deliver high-quality medical affairs communication and activities, meeting brand objectives.
- Drive close collaboration with global and regional teams to ensure the needs of the region are shared and understood and stay informed on latest strategies and priorities.
- Develop and manage relationships with relevant key external experts, and other external collaborators with the common objective to improve health outcomes in the region.
- Develop, manage, and lead all aspects of above-country activities and projects including evidence generation, external medical education, and insight gathering to fill identified gaps (data or education).
Essential Skills/Experience
- Experience in Haematological Oncology is essential
- Proven experience in medical affairs including country and preferably above country leadership experience of strategic medical planning, launch planning and execution is essential, unless you have practiced as a Haemato-oncologist in a Centre of Excellence with hands-on experience of CAR-T
- Solid experience in team management and project management
- Extensive experience in collaboration with external parties and managing cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
- Solid business understanding
- Knowledge of the regulatory and compliance framework in which we operate
Desirable Skills/Experience
When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we fuel bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world.
At AstraZeneca, we thrive on being part of a global network. Connected with the global Medical team, we are constantly learning from working with new and innovative drugs, alongside world-class people. Our science-led pipeline powers us to better serve patients. We're leading the industry by shifting the approach from pure medicine development to early diagnosis and treatment. The breadth and depth of our pipeline means there's a huge variety of work. Every day, we get to do the unexpected, supported to be the best we can be.
