DESIGNATION : Regional Director, Overseas Centre Bangkok (OCB) (3-year contract)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent SMU in Thailand as the chief representative of the University in Thailand to deepen the University’s engagement with industry and institutional collaborators and partners, while rapidly expanding these networks.
- Lead manage OCB operations and help oversee Overseas Centre (OC) operations in Overseas Centre Ho Chi Minh City (OCHCMC) in Vietnam, directing and supporting the in-country OC team.
- Responsible for delivery of business and operational targets assigned to OCB and ensuring that adequate resourcing and guidance for OCHCMC to achieve its targets.
- Support SMU stakeholders build and/or enhance their presence and branding, including social media marketing in Thailand, navigate through regulatory frameworks & business norms, to establish strategic contacts with relevant local counterparts.
- Identify opportunities and support delivery of programmes in Thailand and Singapore, in alignment with the University stakeholders’ marketing and branding strategies to strengthen the good name of SMU.
- Analyse the local industry challenges, local government agendas and initiatives so as to inform strategic decision-making at the University and seizing relevant opportunities.
- Support the establishment of SMU Alumni chapters in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, organising regular networking events with Office of Alumni Relations.
- Undertake OCB operational audit, identify and resolve service gaps, and implement resourcing plans to trouble shoot. Overall responsibility in ensuring legal and operational compliance of OCB/Representative Office.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years relevant regional management experience in senior roles.
- Excellent business development and communications skills are necessary.
- Able to provide a track record of career and/or professional achievements in Thailand. Experience in Vietnam market is preferred.
- Background in higher education and lifelong learning preferred.
- Fluent in English and able to communicate in Thai, and conversational Vietnamese.
