Commercial Leadership Role

The Commercial Manager/Assistant Commercial Manager is a pivotal position that oversees the commercial team and drives project profitability while maintaining a healthy cash profile.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial team with strategic guidance and oversight.
  • Achieve project margins and sustain a positive cash balance.
  • Deliver accurate, transparent, and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Identify and recommend effective commercial strategies to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure timely procurement and management of the supply chain, including subcontractors, suppliers, and consultant services.
  • Oversee contract and tender documentation to ensure compliance and optimal outcomes.
  • Closely monitor and manage financial settlements and risk exposure.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, and partners through exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Building Science.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Thorough understanding of contract and construction law, including tender requirements, contract conditions, methods of contracting, and claims experience.
  • Candidates with M&E experience will be at an added advantage.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong numeracy skills, and sound commercial acumen.
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen with analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing priorities.
