What is the role
As the Founder in Residence (FIR), you will spearhead the exploration, definition, and early execution of a new insurtech venture. With the freedom to shape the concept and execution, you'll guide the venture from problem identification through validation, prototype, and MVP phases. You'll collaborate with Menyala's advisors, insurance experts, and technologists to test assumptions, refine product-market fit, and build a foundation for scalable growth.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Problem Validation and Market Research
Deep-dive into identified industry pain points, including:
Inefficiencies in capital reserves due to regulatory constraints.
Complex, multi-party claims processes and regulatory impacts on claim speed.
The need for alternative risk data sources for underwriting.
Conduct market analysis to confirm demand, assess competitors, and identify opportunities within the (Re)Insurance space.
Venture Concept and Product Hypothesis Testing
Develop and iterate on venture concepts that address key problem statements, leveraging Menyala's research and industry insights.
Test hypotheses through rapid prototyping, gathering market and user feedback to refine solutions.
Stakeholder and Partnership Development
Engage potential partners, advisors, and early adopters within the insurance ecosystem to validate product concepts and gather strategic insights.
Build relationships with insurance providers, reinsurers, and tech providers to explore collaboration opportunities and support market entry.
Technology and Innovation Exploration
Lead exploration of cutting-edge technologies, including AI, blockchain, and parametric models, to shape solutions that bring innovation to claims, underwriting, and customer engagement.
Assess the feasibility and impact of alternative data sources to optimize risk assessment and pricing.
Strategic Roadmap and Fundraising Preparation
Define the venture's initial roadmap, setting key milestones and resource requirements to move from MVP to market-ready product.
Collaborate with Menyala leadership on funding strategy, preparing for seed or venture capital pitches.

We are seeking exceptional founders with the ability to build transformative insurance solutions. Ideal candidates will have:
Extensive expertise in the (Re)Insurance industry, specializing in product development, regulatory compliance, and insurtech innovations, particularly within the Non-Life and Reinsurance space.
Strong strategic thinker with a background in venture building, business model design, and or product-market fit validation.
Excellent communication, partnership development, and project management skills.
A hands-on approach, willing to dive into all aspects of early-stage venture building.
