**Context of the role**

In addition, you are expected to have strong business acumen to identify business opportunities for the Group through the development of new product lines. You will be supported by our sales and channel partnerships team with downstream go-to-market, and your number 1 priority is to develop testing and analytical instruments that can sell globally.

If there is a strong alignment of interests, this role can be further developed into an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EiR) role within the Group, where commercially successful products could be spun out into a separate company where you could serve as a Founder with equity stakes to be negotiated.

**Key responsibilities**
- Establishing the Engineering Center in Singapore; developing detailed workplan and budget for the first year of operations.
- Undertaking engineering projects from the Group’s operating businesses with the objective of diversifying our base of product lines and reduce our reliance on specific market segments. You are expected to work closely with our operating businesses in the US, UK, Greater China, India, and Singapore.
- Scouting for new techniques and technologies from global research institutes and universities in the testing and analytical instruments space that could be licensed and further developed into commercially ready products within the Engineering Center.
- Building and leading a team of junior engineers across relevant engineering disciplines to support the various activities within the Engineering Center. You will serve as the Responsible Person for the management and operations of the Center.
- R&D platform, straddling between upstream technology identification and development and working with downstream commercialization partners.
- He/She should have had experience living overseas for extended periods of time, and has developed a global perspective of issues across science, technology and business.
- Have strong project management skills, and are flexible in your way of thinking.
- Fluent conversational Mandarin is preferred but not necessary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
