Job Title: Operational Risk SpecialistRole Overview

The operational risk specialist is a key role within our organization, responsible for identifying and mitigating operational risks. This includes assessing new and existing products and processes, working with stakeholders to reduce risks to an acceptable level, and implementing strategic projects to address identified risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse new and existing products and operational processes, assessing risks and working with stakeholders to reduce risks to an acceptable level.
  • Proactively identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities, and initiate strategic projects to address them.
  • Implement and execute various risk-related tasks, such as monitoring controls, conducting risk assessments, analysing data, and investigating potential issues.
  • Assess and test existing controls, working with stakeholders to improve existing controls and implement new ones.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations in Payment Operations, supporting the operational teams on how to interpret regulatory requirements, improving processes and our product to avoid regulatory breaches and/or incidents.
  • Drive risk awareness across Payment Operations and ensure alignment across the whole organisation.
  • Cooperate with various other teams in Wise, including Group Risk, Compliance, Product, Finance, Treasury.
  • Perform monitoring routines over various topics, reporting the results.
Requirements
  • Experience with conducting risk assessments and control testing.
  • Experience across enterprise risk management, inherent and residual risk assessment, and risk reporting.
  • Track record working across the operational risk spectrum.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively.
  • Effective prioritisation and ability to call out key areas of improvement and implementation required from a regulatory point of view.
  • Data-driven, able to prioritise the value add, measure the impact, and have a proven track record of moving metrics and reaching KPI goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across different audiences.
  • Strong relationship builder across all levels of the business and externally, leading by example and demonstrating Wise values in all actions.
