Job Description

This role involves working at the intersection of storytelling, service quality, and systems thinking to strengthen design across government digital services. You will develop standards and frameworks that enable better usability, accessibility, and usefulness, while also building the communication strategies that help teams, leaders, and the public understand the value of great design.

Key responsibilities include developing and leading initiatives that improve design quality and maturity across product teams, creating and maintaining design standards, quality indicators, and shared best practices that enable cohesive user-centred service delivery, and shaping and implementing communication strategies that explain and elevate the role of design across internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need 10+ years of experience in UX, service design, strategic communications, or content strategy, as well as proven ability to synthesize design concepts, research insights, and delivery outcomes into effective communications.

Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills across a variety of formats are essential, along with familiarity with usability and accessibility principles and how they apply in digital service contexts.

Experience shaping and applying design standards and quality frameworks, confidence working across teams and disciplines, and excellent facilitation and alignment skills are also required.
