Library Officer, NL/Reader Services

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Officer to join our team at the National Library Board (NLB). As a key member of our Reader Services team, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to library users, managing our heritage collection, and contributing to the achievement of our mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide timely and relevant reference and information services to library users onsite and online.
- Manage customer engagements for loans services and conduct information literacy sessions.
- Ensure the maintenance of NL Reading Room operations and participate in projects related to Reading Rooms set-ups and new services.
- Provide general administrative support, including planning of rostering duties, assisting in ISO 9001 annual certification, and compiling reports and statistics.
- Supervise support staff, including part-time staff in Reference Service, and monitor performance according to Service Standards.
- Assist Librarians and Collection Heads in collection maintenance matters and compile collection management/development reports.
- Coordinate and plan for spatial optimisation, including Reading Rooms and Closed sections, and manage collection audit and promotion initiatives.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience in NLB frontline service.
- Proficient in speaking and reading in Chinese Language, as the incumbent will also be required to handle Chinese Collections.
- Systematic, meticulous, and self-driven, with the ability to manage operational matters and problem-solve.
- Contribute towards the achievement of NLB mission and vision and provide positive feedback from researchers.
- Appreciate operational challenges and service gaps, with the ability to find workable solutions.
- Work as a team and contribute to positive team spirit amongst colleagues, and possess supervisory skills.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a 2-year contract in the first instance. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
