Developing Innovative Educational Resources for Teaching Throwing to Primary School Children

Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) are essential for children's holistic development and lifelong health. This project aims to create innovative educational resources and FMS assessment tools incorporating technology such as computer vision and machine learning techniques.

To achieve this, we will collaborate with teachers and school leaders to co-develop a technology-enhanced pedagogical intervention. We will also develop movement assessment tools using computer vision and machine learning techniques. Additionally, we will create educational resources for teaching throwing to primary school children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Co-develop a technology-enhanced pedagogical intervention with teachers and school leaders
  • Develop movement assessment tools using computer vision and machine learning techniques
  • Create educational resources for teaching throwing to primary school children
  • SUPPORT A SCHOOL-BASED INTERVENTION FOR ENHANCING THROWING PROFICIENCY IN CHILDREN
  • Analyze research data on throwing proficiency in children
  • Assist with ethics application, compliance monitoring, and reporting
  • Manage project administration and research data
  • Supervise student assistants supporting the project
  • Prepare project reports and presentations
  • Assist with manuscript writing and data visualization
Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, Sport Science, or related scientific discipline
  • Proficient in writing Python code independently
  • Experience with pose estimation using MediaPipe
  • Good knowledge of biomechanical concepts and signal processing methods for analyzing human movement data
  • Experience in graphic design, interactive media, animation, and/or deploying markerless motion capture on edge devices is a plus
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Comfortable working in a team environment
