Commercial Director Role

This role requires a seasoned commercial professional to drive business growth through effective deal desk management, strategic direction, and process improvement. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in deal desk operations, establishing and maintaining deal approval hierarchies, and ensuring consistent application of commercial terms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a team of deal desk professionals, including performance management, coaching, and career development.
  • Owning the commercial strategy and monetization framework, partnering with executive leadership to define and implement pricing, packaging, and discount policies.
  • Establishing and maintaining deal approval hierarchies and policies, ensuring consistent application of commercial terms and adherence to profitability standards.
  • Serving as the primary deal desk representative for C-level and VP-level stakeholders across sales, finance, legal, and product, advising on deal structuring and commercial terms.
  • Driving continuous improvement of deal desk processes and systems, defining the roadmap for automation and efficiency gains.
  • Directing the analysis of deal trends and pricing performance, using insights to provide data-driven recommendations for strategic commercial initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in deal desk and consulting within a SaaS organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in commercial strategy, pricing, and monetization frameworks.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of SaaS business models, go-to-market strategies, and revenue recognition principles.
