Database Implementation Specialist

Job Description:

  • As a Database Implementation Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of databases to meet organizational requirements. This involves managing database changes through the change request process and providing timely status reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • You will participate in development projects, such as logical and physical database design, ensuring that databases are optimized for performance and scalability.
  • Incident response is a critical aspect of this role, where you will assist and respond promptly to incidents, investigate, and provide temporary and/or permanent resolutions for escalated incidents.
  • Performance tuning, performance management, and database setup are key responsibilities of a Database Implementation Specialist.
  • Monitoring and measuring the performance and availability of databases proactively, implementing corrective actions to improve performance and availability.
  • Ensuring regular reporting to relevant parties and documenting and maintaining the configuration of databases according to standard operating procedures.
  • Leading and monitoring databases according to standard operating procedures.
  • Implementing service continuity measures such as backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery plans to ensure continuous business operation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in IT or any related discipline is essential for this role.
  • More than 3 years of experience in the installation, configuration, and management of SQL Server databases is required.
  • Experience with SQL Server Clustering and AlwaysOn Availability Group setup and management is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in writing and debugging complex SQL statements, stored procedures, and functions is necessary.
  • Expertise in database performance monitoring and tuning using SQL Server Tools like Profiler Trace, SQL Statistics, and Execution Plan is highly valued.
  • Setting up and managing database replication is an added advantage.
