Operational Risk Manager

The primary function of this role is to provide expert guidance on operational risk management, encompassing a broad spectrum of activities including risk reporting, RCSA facilitation, and oversight of the New Product Approval Policy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining timely and accurate operational risk reports for senior management, committees, and regulators.
  • Identifying and highlighting key operational risk themes, emerging risks, and significant incidents.
  • Tracking and reporting operational risk metrics, such as Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and loss data, and supporting scenario analysis exercises.

Risk Governance and RCSA

  • Guiding business units in planning and executing RCSA exercises in accordance with established standards.
  • Reviewing and challenging RCSA outputs to ensure risks and controls are properly assessed and documented.
  • Monitoring the implementation of action plans arising from identified risk/control gaps.
  • Conducting thematic risk reviews and supporting targeted risk workshops.

New Product Approval Governance

  • Supporting the enhancement of the New Product Approval Policy and governance processes.
  • Reviewing new product and service proposals from a Line 2 operational risk perspective.
  • Ensuring proposed products align with risk appetite, and operational risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders (Product, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Operations) in reviewing proposals.

Secretariat Role – Operational Risk Committee

  • Serving as Secretary for the Operational Risk Committee.
  • Preparing and circulating meeting agendas, materials, and minutes.
  • Tracking and following up on matters arising and action items from committee meetings.
  • Ensuring governance standards and documentation requirements are met for committee operations.

Other Responsibilities

  • Supporting internal and external audits, and regulatory reviews related to operational risk.
  • Promoting operational risk awareness and training across the organization.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of operational risk tools, systems, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in operational risk, internal audit, or compliance within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong exposure to RCSA, operational risk reporting, and product governance processes.
  • Prior experience supporting committee secretariat functions is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to operate independently.
  • Experience and comfort in establishing relationships with different departments.
  • Self-motivated and a good team player.
