Material Pricing Associate

We are seeking a skilled Material Pricing Associate to join our team. As a key member of our pricing team, you will be responsible for analyzing and negotiating material prices with suppliers, as well as managing customer pricing proposals and maintaining a historical database of quotes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze customer requirements and lead projects to ensure Celestica goals are met.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Strategic Sourcing, Commodity Management, Purchasing, Material Costing Teams, Engineering teams, and Financial/Customer Focus Team.
  • Manage customer pricing proposals and maintain a historical database of quotes.
  • Coordinate and manage material cost activity for select customers and/or sites.
  • Prepare material pricing independently for new business opportunities (bids) including generation of Bill of Material, cost analysis, negotiation with suppliers, collaboration with Commodity Management and presentation to team leaders and managers.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on RFI tenders.
  • Participate in kick-off meetings and interact with global customers' units as well as counterparts in other regions.
  • Audit and analyze quarterly cost variances. Consolidate, tabulate, analyze and report on various commitment and performance metrics.
  • Support data management on opportunities where appropriate.
  • Working knowledge of the marketplace conditions for the Communications Segment, including pricing, technology and supply/demand trends.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical component knowledge and ability to read engineering drawings and electrical specifications.
  • Understanding of the Bill of Material (BOM) structure and hierarchy, and the ability to analyze the BOM structure to supporting engineering data.
  • Knowledge of computer applications (Excel, MS Office) and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this department, including ERP (SAP) and office systems.
  • Knowledge of pricing practices and procedures.
  • Good command of understanding specific customer needs as it relates to the Industrial space.
  • Strong communication, organization, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to consolidate, manipulate and analyze large quantities of data.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and drive for streamlined approach to completing repetitive activities.
  • Presentation of insights and solutions to opportunity stakeholders.
Typical Experience:
  • 1-2 years relevant experience.
Typical Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Business or Engineering), or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
