Overview
We are working with one of the safest and most efficient logistics partners in Asia Pacific to place a Country Manager for Singapore & Malaysia
Position SummaryYour role will be to manage operations, develop business, and increase profitability for the Singapore & Malaysia locations. You will need to have broad and specialist skills around 3PL, freight forwarding, transportation and supply chain knowledge.
This role is a client-facing role with strategic competencies required to grow the business and retain existing accounts.
You will have a high level of responsibility and require self-motivation, being time-oriented and able to move between general management and operational requirements.
You will need to have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the Singapore & Malaysia market in relation with our industry.
The role is a senior executive position reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Responsibilities- Managing all operations within the Singapore & Malaysia locations including responsibility for profit, revenue, cash and safety targets.
- Developing multiyear country strategic plans in line with the company's regional strategy
- Develop and agree upon annual budgets and produce a detailed annual business operating plan to the CEO. Produce business performance reports, on a monthly basis.
- Improve the operational effectiveness to ensure customer service levels are in alignment and efficient within the organisation
- Deliver annual country plans for safety, financial, operations, new business, people, and corporate social responsibility.
- Recruiting and managing staff, including performance monitoring, mentoring and training.
- Regular contact with clients is required and therefore the ability to communicate effectively is essential.
- Represent the company at Business Chambers and other corporate events
- A strong understanding of how a business operates with a proven track record demonstrating their understanding and business acumen in Singapore & Malaysia.
- Must have sound commercial acumen.
- Experience of driving business transformations will be advantageous.
- Should have the ability to get into the details, driven and able to manage ambiguous environment.
- General management experience is essential for working in this job plus strong networking skills.
- Able to deliver the highest standards of customer service.
- The ability to recruit top talent and monitor performance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, including people-management, leadership and both written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge and experience of 3PL operations, understanding of freight forwarding.
- Experience of living abroad is desirable, with application to a global mindset and sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Must be familiar with computer software programs e.g. Word, Excel etc.

- Ensure all hazards and risks are identified, evaluated and controlled in accordance with Safety Policy and Procedures and any client requirements.
- Ensure completion of incident reports, communication of investigation findings in line with Reporting Requirements, client requirements and Comcare requirements, including close out and verification of corrective actions arising from incidents or near misses.
- P&L managed, maintained and targets successfully achieved
- Closely monitor performance against budget
- Identify budget variances and remedial actions to correct
- Strategy developed and implementation plan in place for the Country
- Monitor operations performance against plan
- Identify and implement key operational efficiencies across operational sites
- Work with the Commercial Manager and Regional Commercial Director to establish a growth strategy for Thailand, including target markets, prospects and revenue objectives
- Grow the business to meet the business plan goals
- Lead and drive the establishment, maintenance and development of relationships with key customers within the Country as measured by the achievement of business development budgets and customer satisfaction surveys / interviews.
- Prepare and lead presentations to and negotiations with prospective customers to achieve growth targets
- Ensure the business needs, service and delivery expectations of customers are provided effectively by operations
- Relationship management of key top talent as appropriate for each development and/or project
- Undertake workforce planning based upon financial information and ongoing people management programs
- Manage the communication flow and information links between all key staff across the country
- Set and monitor staff KPIs linked to their development plan
- Ensure quality and people management policies and practices such as Equal Employment Opportunities, Workplace Diversity and Performance Management are applied
- Ensure the consistent application of the company's policies, procedures and practices.
- Collaborate within the Asian region to establish the growth strategy. Contribute to the strategic planning operations generally as requested.
- Actively seek opportunities to develop new customer relationships in Thailand and when the opportunity arises within Asia.
- Provide subject matter expertise in the pursuit of new business in the Asia region.
- Support the continued cross development of Asia resources throughout region.

Experience
- Knowledge of local country laws / statutory requirements / Company Law, and business regulations. Director-level experience is ideal.
- Involvement in Asian country-based business activities for a minimum of 3+ years
- Experience in Singapore is a must
- Extensive Supply Chain operational experience in a medium to large private sector organisation in managing people, financials, customers, and contracts.
