Business Development Manager

Overview

This position is a 2-year fixed-term full-time role based in Singapore and does not include a relocation package. You will be employed through a Singapore-based Employer of Record and will be governed by Singapore labour laws.

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to strengthen economic ties between Singapore and Western Australia. You will attract investment from Singapore to WA and promote trade opportunities for WA businesses in Singapore. You will build strategic relationships with government, industry, and commerce, and support exporters with market intelligence and tailored market entry advice. You will represent WA at trade shows, conferences, and high-level engagements to enhance the State’s visibility and influence in Singapore.

You will identify and pursue trade and investment opportunities aligned with Western Australia’s Investment and Trade Plan, promote WA’s key sectors to investors and trade partners, pursue foreign direct investment opportunities, and maintain networks with government agencies, chambers of commerce, and industry bodies. You will provide high-level support to the Investment and Trade Commissioner, including preparing briefing materials, presentations, and strategic advice. You will monitor developments in Singapore that may impact trade and investment outcomes and contribute to business planning for WA’s strategy in Singapore.

This position is based in Singapore and does not attract a relocation package. To be considered, candidates must reside in Singapore with valid working rights.

As a locally engaged staff member, you will be employed through a Singapore-based Employer of Record (EOR) on behalf of the Department. Your employment will be governed by conditions of service that comply with Singapore labour laws.

• Attract investment from Singapore to Western Australia and promote trade opportunities for WA businesses in Singapore.
• Build strategic relationships with government, industry, and commerce; provide market intelligence and tailored market entry advice to exporters.
• Represent WA at trade shows, conferences, and high-level engagements.
• Identify opportunities in line with WA’s Investment and Trade Plan; promote WA sectors to investors and trade partners; pursue foreign direct investment opportunities.
• Maintain strong networks with government agencies, chambers of commerce, and industry bodies; support the Investment and Trade Commissioner with briefing materials and strategic advice.
• Monitor economic, political, and regulatory developments in Singapore and inform government stakeholders on market trends, risks, and opportunities.

• Experience in international trade and investment with ability to work in cross-cultural environments.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to provide market insights, develop market entry strategies, and support exporters.
• Ability to prepare briefing materials, presentations, and strategic advice.
• Eligibility to work in Singapore and reside there for the duration of the fixed-term appointment.
