Overview

Head of Business Development at KONE — Location: KONE Singapore. Report to: Managing Director, KONE Singapore.

The Head of Business Development is responsible for shaping and executing strategic initiatives that drive growth, market expansion, and competitive positioning for the company. This role focuses on identifying, developing and leading all business opportunities—ranging from partnerships, key accounts to large-scale transformation projects—while driving early engagement, managing deal development and aligning cross-functional efforts. The successful candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, strong commercial acumen, and deep industry knowledge, as well as in ensuring the NBS and Modernization business lines achieve specific targets on major projects.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the development of a robust Major Project Funnel across both NBS and MOD segments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify, qualify, and prioritize key project opportunities.
  • Monitor funnel health and address gaps proactively to support sustained business growth.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with KONE’s short- and long-term goals.
  • Ensure strategies are integrated with frontline, area, and global organizational objectives to drive cohesive growth.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to enhance market positioning and profitability.
  • Focus on key segments including Infrastructure, Commercial, Residential, Healthcare over New Construction and Modernization.
  • Drive the recovery of underperforming areas through targeted strategic and commercial actions.
  • Lead and manage large-scale, complex growth initiatives across NBS and MOD.
  • Ensure effective execution and stakeholder alignment in high-impact projects.
  • Build and maintain strong networks with key external stakeholders such as authorities, developers, consultants, and builders.
  • Leverage relationships to strengthen business influence and pipeline quality.
  • Provide value-added solutions through early influencing workshops with key stakeholders.
  • Oversee all business development functions, including leads development, sales support, marketing, key accounts, and major projects.
  • Ensure both NBS and MOD segments achieve defined sales and growth targets.
  • Lead and coach the business development team and collaborate with Sales heads to support deal closure.

  • Maintain and grow long-term relationships with key accounts, ensuring ongoing engagement and high customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or equivalent preferred).
  • Progressive experience in business development, strategy, or commercial leadership.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale strategic initiatives and partnerships.
  • Familiarity with the built environment, infrastructure sectors, or smart building technologies is an advantage.
