We have created a new role overseeing business development efforts for our Singapore & Australia businesses. In this role you will act as the go-to business lead for product partnerships in the region - a shrewd Swiss army knife operator willing to be the tip of the spear for new initiatives for Coinbase.
Coinbase launched in Singapore and Australia in 2023. Since then, Coinbase has become a leading player in the expansion of the cryptoeconomy in Asia-Pacific. In Singapore, we’ve received our Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, expanded with funding via PayNow and FAST, and launched a major engineering hub in November 2024. And in Australia, we’ve received our AUSTRAC registration and partnered with Blockchain Australia. In both markets, Coinbase has invested deeply in the local crypto ecosystem, with significant investments made through Coinbase Ventures.
We’re in growth mode in the region and need a seasoned, flexible, and ambitious leader to serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for partnerships efforts. We need someone with a strong foundation in payments and fintech, but willing to quickly learn about other areas of the business that have strong potential to grow in Singapore & APAC. The primary focus of this role is on growing the Retail business. This includes Financial Services & Loyalty efforts - which includes the Coinbase One subscription program, Retail Onchain products, and the Coinbase Card (to name a few) - and the core trading business, which is rapidly evolving to include new types of trading across the spectrum of trader sophistication. You’ll be responsible for new go-to-market strategies and drive product partnerships with banks, fintechs, consumer tech companies, and other high-scale partners. In some cases you’ll work closely with product management and country managers to define the requirements for a successful partnership and identify partners based on those traits. In other cases you’ll be out on your own - in close contact with senior leadership - to look around corners nobody else knows about and proactively share new ways for Coinbase to be top of mind in the region. We’re looking for a dynamic, creative, and highly ambitious leader who wants to own two high-growth regions, embrace different business cultures, sign groundbreaking deals that pave the way for Coinbase to grow via new paradigms, and be viewed as an indispensable business leader in the region.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Serve as the DRI for partnerships in Singapore and Australia, working cross-functionally with Product, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, and local country directors to define and execute market-specific partnership strategies.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate high-impact partnerships across payments, fintech, consumer tech, and crypto-native platforms to drive adoption of Coinbase’s Retail products.
- Deepen our footprint in the local financial ecosystems by building executive relationships with banks, PSPs, neobanks, and other critical financial infrastructure providers.
- Act as a thought partner to product teams by bringing market intelligence, competitive insight, and partner feedback into product roadmaps.
- Identify and unlock emerging growth areas, such as onchain rewards, stablecoin utility, new trading paradigms, or next-gen card products tailored to APAC user behavior.
- Lead complex deal negotiations from first pitch through execution, balancing speed, creativity, and risk management.
- Represent Coinbase externally in partner meetings, industry events, and regulatory conversations, helping position us as a responsible and innovative player in the APAC crypto ecosystem.
- Track, measure, and communicate the business impact of partnerships, owning the full lifecycle from sourcing through to integration and ongoing performance.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- 8+ years of experience in business development, strategy, or partnerships roles, ideally in fintech, payments, consumer tech, or crypto.
- Strong understanding of the financial infrastructure landscape in Singapore and Australia, with a demonstrated ability to navigate both legacy and next-gen players.
- Proven ability to lead high-stakes deals end-to-end—sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and closing—while collaborating across functions.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action: you’re energized by ambiguity and thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Highly structured communicator and strategic thinker, able to synthesize complexity and influence executive stakeholders internally and externally.
- Deep empathy for the end user and a knack for identifying product-market fit in diverse markets with different consumer behaviors.
- Comfortable toggling between strategic priorities and tactical execution, with a strong sense of ownership over outcomes.
- Passion for crypto and Coinbase’s mission, coupled with the intellectual curiosity to learn new products, use cases, and technologies as the industry evolves.
