The Financing & Securities Services (FSS) business has a unique footprint in Asia, Middle East, and Africa, and offers a growing range of products, including direct custody, international custody, funds services, trustee services, transfer agency, prime services, and agency securities lending, to several client sectors including banks, investors, intermediaries, sovereigns, fund managers insurance companies and corporates. 

The jobholder is responsible for Fund & Fiduciary products globally, responsible for (i) enabling a competitive product suite that will grow and retain the existing book of business; (ii) developing new products and services to respond to market changes and generate new revenue streams and (iii) to ensure those are done within a controlled and compliant environment. This role is also accountable for the end-to-end proposition to clients, specifically Investors/Insurance, and in line with the target operating and technical delivery model of the Bank. 

Core products that are under the accountability of this individual are:

Fund administration and accounting services Transfer Agency and Performance Measurement services Middle Office services  Trustee & Fiduciary services In essence, the suite of products for Investor/Insurance excluding custody functions will be under the remit of this individual. 

The jobholder will be required to:

Work collaboratively with members of the FSS, Financial Markets (FM), and Client Coverage (CC) to ensure cross-product, cross-business opportunities are realised Work collaboratively with support functions (operations, technology, etc) ensuring products and solutions are developed and delivered as per plan and are pervasive Create visibility for FSS through participation in conferences and industry events

Strategy

Owns the development and execution of the fund and fiduciary strategy for FSS, focusing on investor/insurance client base Ensures the fund and fiduciary products and solutions can be delivered in an efficient, scalable, and sustainable business an operating model Reviews, assesses, and resets location strategy as new countries and markets become available / viable. Reviews, assesses, and sunsets products where relevant and applicable against FSS strategy and commercial metrics  Awareness of market trends, regulatory changes, digital and data innovation developments, and capitalizing on these where applicable in alignment with FSS strategy  Thoughts-leadership on digitization and use of DLT in our product solutions Functions as a key contributor to the development of the strategy for the FSS business globally Works across CCIB and the Bank to ensure strategies for related products are aligned

Business

Processes

Accountable for end-to-end client proposition ensuring (i) alignment to strategy, and target operating model, and (ii) commercially viable for both clients and the Bank Improves on product commercial metrics including productivity metrics, ensuring improvements to overall products CIR/RoTE Partners with FM Operations and Technology to (i) transform, design and implement scalable, automated, and commercially viable operating model for the business, capable of adaptation to satisfy changing business and regulatory requirements; (ii) remediate identified areas Ensure singular lens to products, operations and technology agenda pertaining to fund and fiduciary strategy, and drives prioritization in accordance Periodically reviews products to ensure profitability requirements and expectations continue to be met. Co-ordinates global product activity to minimise overlap and maximise sharing and re-use of solutions an ensuring pervasiveness of products across regions/countries Manages relationships with functions such as Risk, Credit, Compliance, Legal, Finance as they impact the evolution of the FSS product suite Support sales in identifying opportunities and executing sales plan for Investor/Insurance segment

Manages the team, including setting objectives and performance review. Ensures consistency and alignment with both group product and regional business objectives. Provides strong leadership to the Product and wider team leads through example and builds appropriate culture and values. Employs, engages, and retains high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles Ensures the provision of ongoing training and development of people; ensures that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles with effective supervision in place to mitigate risks, proactively provides coaching to the team, creating an environment that fosters learning and drives a high-performance team ethos.

Risk Management

Takes responsibility for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual and the team play in managing them. Ensures all regulatory and compliance initiatives surrounding the product are identified, socialised and closed out in a timely and efficient fashion. Oversees consistent treatment and management of risks for fund and fiduciary products

Governance

Accountable for maintaining appropriate balance between standardised product offering and granting exceptions to key clients on a commercial basis. Assesses the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, recommend changes in these areas. Consults with local heads of FSS / FM / FM Ops and other relevant parties before granting significant concessions to the standard product model. Maintains all appropriate products and governance documentation and approvals. Ensures compliance of the product suite with all regulatory and internal control requirements. Maintains awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role. Delivers ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; willingness to work with regulators in an open and cooperative manner.  Is aware of business strategy and governance parameters and works within them or seeks formal dispensation prior to entering client discussions in exceptional cases. Ensures the sales process, commercials, and necessary governance are in place to govern the roll-out of the product.

Our Ideal Candidate

Experience in the financial services sector with good understanding of fund services products and operations, and middle office services. 15 + years of experience as a Practitioner in the fund services industry with in-depth experience in Asset Management, Fund Administrator or Custodian.  Demonstrate strong knowledge of the securities market especially for Asia and Africa/Middle East markets Deep local market knowledge & client buying behaviours Experience developing and executing product strategies  Strong experience in leading both transformational and incremental change Degree in Accountancy or CPA preferred  Market profile and credibility with clients  Strong background of people focused leadership with excellent engagement and retention results  A people manager with experience with managing diverse / multi-discipline teams in-country Excellent communicator and presenter Results oriented, transformational mindset, energetic and dynamic Highly organised and an exceptional communicator, able to work effectively in a matrix organisation
