We are currently seeking high calibre professional to join our team as a **Desk Head.**
Role Purpose
The primary role purpose is to lead a team of relationship managers responsible for an overall portfolio of client relationships. Desk Head is responsible for the management of the overall client portfolio and allocates accounts to individual relationship managers to deliver the day to day servicing of these accounts. He/ She does not manage their own book of clients but supplements the role of the relationship manager by providing client leadership for key strategic relationships and will support the relationship managers through accompaniment to client meetings/ events.
A key part of the role is the organisation, planning, resource deployment and business prioritisation to maximise the value and impact of the team. Ensuring that the best use of our proposition to deliver the most appropriate investment solutions to our client base is critical to the success of the role and the sustainability of the business.
Desk Head is also responsible for driving business development, deepening existing client relationship through both successful collaboration across GPB and wider HSBC Group. He/ She is expected to closely manage business pipeline activity and is overall responsible for meeting financial growth targets whilst ensuring the business operates within risk appetite.
Desk Head is a key part of the risk management of the business and is responsible for ensuring that the risks inherent in Wealth Management are effectively mitigated. This is achieved through a combination of effective hands on supervision of the activities by the team members as well as a thorough review of management information and escalation of issues. He/ She is a Level 1 Supervisor as defined under the GPB Supervisory Framework.
Desk head is expected to build constructive working relationships with Global Functions and other service providers to maximise business performance and ensure robust risk management of issues.
Desk Head is expected, broadly, to spend their time on the following aspects of their role:
- Leading, Directing, Coaching and Business Development;
- Organisation and Planning and
- Supervisory Control.
**Principal Accountabilities**
**Impact on the Business**
- Lead and develop a high performing team of relationship managers by providing coaching and guidance; so to maximise the business opportunities available and operate within the overall risk appetite of the organisation
- Empower RMs to meet their financial targets as per FRP, including and not exhaustive to:
- Revenue
- Net new money (NNM) inflow
- NNM into Managed Solutions
- NNM into Funds
- Lending balance growth
- Drive business in a way consistent with GPB and HBAP business initiatives, including and not exhaustive to the Client Service Model, Portfolio-Based Approach, Sales Suitability requirements, etc. without losing sight of potential red flags in particular on FCC and sales quality
- On-board clients to the team with profiles that align with the Group appetite to drive sustainable growth, and exit clients according to Group and regulatory requirement as needed
**Customers / Stakeholders**
- Ensure, through effective and hands on supervision, the business delivers high quality and appropriate investment solutions to clients in line with the clients’ investment objectives and risk profile
- Provide appropriate guidance and solutions to address team client needs by collaborating with product teams, including and not exhaustive to IWS, Credit Advisory, Intra-Group Collaboration and PWS
- Provide client leadership and direction to complement Relationship Managers role and deepens clients’ relationships with HSBC GPB
- Assist the relationship managers cross sell opportunities to the broader HSBC organisation through collaboration and referrals
- Oversee effective client planning and monitor execution
- Ensure the team’s client portfolio is managed properly and in compliance with cross-border guideline and sales suitability requirement
- Provide supervision to RMs to deliver conduct and fair client outcomes that adheres to the MAS Fair Dealing Guidelines amongst all other relevant requirements
