**Strategy** **Principal**

Primary purpose of the role:
Engender positive change in organisational direction through influencing senior executives, leading multiple projects and directing the focus of the Strategy Team to demonstrably improve icare’s ability to achieve its strategic objectives.

Key accountabilities:

- Lead and drive high Stakes/impact strategy projects that unpack complex problem spaces, generate key hypotheses, define data requirements and execute analysis to support hypothesis testing.
- Pro-actively identify strategic issues and define problems for GET and other senior stakeholders.
- Support executive and senior stakeholder thinking and action through building strategic relationships, driving outcomes by resolving competing interests and facilitating win-win solutions.
- Shape the enterprise agenda and develop and manage a pipeline of work in collaboration with your Executive stakeholders.
- Developing solutions that are pragmatic and achievable by the business to help them move forward, leveraging a strong understanding icare.
- Lead and coordinate the annual strategic planning process across the organisation.
- Build and provide comprehensive market and competitor studies to compare the company strategy with external factors closely monitoring the impact from regulatory changes on the company and whole market.
- Conduct complex and detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess opportunities and create initiatives.
- Communicate both verbally and in writing in a way that stimulates constructive and impactful dialogue, leading to improved decisions and actions at Group Executive and Board levels.
- Engage across the team and the organisation to identify and address alignment opportunities across the portfolio of projects and business activities.
- Guide and advise the Transformation team and Program Directors to ensure that strategic recommendations are successfully translated into implementation plans.

- Collaborate to ensure customer insights are used to drive strategy and that strategy recommendations are desirable for customers.

Industry professionals/ consultants
- Collaborate with and seek/maintain specialist knowledge/advice.
- Participate in discussions regarding innovation and best practice.

Vendors/Service Providers
- Develop request for proposals for external strategy consulting firm services.
- Negotiate and approve contracts and service agreements.
- Monitor provision of service to ensure compliance with contracts.

Essential requirements:

- Extensive experience leading strategic thinking and planning across an organisation, such as with a reputable strategy consulting firm and/or within industry.
- Advanced strategic thinking skills, defined as the ability to creatively approach and structure complex, potentially unfamiliar and ambiguous issues.
- Experience working with and presenting to boards, c-suite/senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written (Board paper writing and PowerPoint slide development) and oral.
- Relevant tertiary education.
- Pre-employment checks.
