**The opportunity**: Flexport helps more than 10,000 clients and suppliers lead all aspects of their supply chain. Each of these customers faces significant working capital burdens that hamper their ability to grow their businesses. So far Flexport Capital has provided over $200 million in financing to Flexport customers to address these needs, and we're just getting started. As a start-up within a start-up, we are building unique fintech products that leverage the resources and data of Flexport's platform for global trade. We are hiring a Head of Underwriting & Servicing to build Flexport Factoring. We are seeking an entrepreneurial individual to join a closely-knit team transforming global trade finance. You will develop new financing products, own financing decision-making, and develop (& automate) underwriting policies & practices. **You will**: - Own and maintain our (credit / operational) risk framework and improve our processes with internal stakeholders, capital markets partners and technology providers - Work closely with product and legal to develop factoring products and ensure our documentation and procedures comply with commercial financing standards - Build, manage and lead our underwriting & servicing team, whose main responsibility is underwriting new clients and obligors, controlling disbursements, and portfolio monitoring - Collaborate with external partners (such as banks, private credit investors, credit insurers, rating agencies & data providers) to manage and share risk responsibly - Set direction and structure for ongoing monitoring process of existing borrowers, and manage default negotiations and workout programs - Drive analytics and efficiencies for credit processes, and develop a strategic roadmap to leverage technology in credit underwriting and monitoring - Support strategic projects and updates to company leadership regarding new products, financial insights, capital market partnerships, and more **You should have**: - 10+ years experience in factoring and other trade finance products; ideally including experience in fintech environment - Expertise in factoring underwriting and risk management models; prior experience working with data providers, credit agencies, and credit insurers - Expertise in factoring operational processes, documentation, and controls - Proven track record of building new products, processes, and/or systems from scratch - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team while managing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment - Eagerness to operate in fast paced start-up environment - Prior experience in leading teams & managing people preferred - Experience in statistical modeling & predictive analytics is a plus - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills - Willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed - BA/BS degree; MBA is a plus - A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry
