**GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**

The HR Manager, Asia will report directly to the Senior Director, HR & Talent Engagement, EMEA and will be responsible for managing the implementation and administration of the human resources programs, policies and activities for all personnel in the Asia offices. These responsibilities include the functional areas of recruitment, onboarding and integration, compensation and benefit administration, performance management, employee relations, training and development, recognition programs, counseling and workforce planning.

**PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**General HR Management**
- Serves as the “trusted advisor” for all HR related questions from the Asia offices in areas including, but not limited to:

- Recruitment
- Onboarding and Integration
- Leave, special requests and exceptions
- Employee benefits
- Employee relations issues
- Training & Development
- Firm compliance with local bar rules, practicing certificate renewals, continuing professional development (CPD) requirements, etc.
- Is knowledgeable about local employment laws and policies and serves as a resource for attorneys, management and staff
- Provides leadership to the Asia offices on policy interpretation
- Directs the local HR/Office Managers to ensure the Firm’s policies and procedures are compliant with local regulations and laws
- Ensures personnel policies and procedures are communicated to all personnel and ensures international offices are in compliance
- Seeks to recommend improvements to HR systems and procedures to increase efficiency

**Employee Relations**
- Supports Firm management’s principles, policies and programs and ensures they are fairly applied
- May be involved in conducting counseling, disciplinary and/or termination meetings with employees
- Assists with the investigations of complaints of discrimination and/or harassment, makes recommendations and implements corrective action where necessary
- Consults with the Senior Director, HR & Talent Engagement, EMEA and Local Employment Counsel, as needed
- Helps to ensure compliance with local laws and regulatory agencies

**Recruitment/Staffing**
- Directs the Asia offices in implementing a non-discriminatory recruitment and placement program for all attorneys and staff in the areas of recruitment, advertising, postings, screenings, interviewing and orientation
- Ensures all conflicts and pre-employment checks are completed
- Provides direction with the drafting of offer letters and other template recruitment documentation to ensure compliance with Firm standards and applicable laws where required
- Works with the local offices to ensure new employee orientation is conducted in accordance with Firm standards; that necessary information is disseminated and required signatures are obtained
- Oversees the administration of International Intern Programs in the Asia offices
- Assists the Senior Director, HR & Talent Engagement, EMEA with the project management of all HR aspects involved with new business mergers, combinations etc,. resulting in the opening of a new Asia office
- Assists the Senior Director, HR & Talent Engagement, EMEA and US counterparts with the design and implementation of international integration and orientation programs for new Partners and employees

**Compensation and Benefits Administration**
- Assists the Senior Director, HR & Talent Engagement, EMEA with all aspects of the performance evaluation process for attorneys and staff in the Asia offices
- Serves as an Asia office liaison for the attorney, legal staff and business staff evaluation and compensation processes; reviews evaluations to ensure accuracy, consistency and appropriateness of the language
- Assists with the preparation of data for salary surveys; tracks market data and trends for the Asia offices
- Supports the Senior Director, HR & Talent Engagement, EMEA with the implementation and administration of Firm benefit programs

**Training and Development**
- Coordinates with the Senior Director, HR & Talent Engagement, EMEA and US counterparts on international lawyer assignments
- Coordinates with the Senior Director, HR & Talent Engagement, EMEA and US counterparts to assist with the attendance of international lawyers at firm-wide training sessions and academies etc,.
- Assists with the roll-out of any firm training programs for attorneys and staff that need to be implemented in the Asia offices

**Other**
- Performs other duties and undertakes ad hoc projects as assigned

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- This role will be responsible for:

- direct supervision of the Asia HR Manager(s) and other local Asia office HR personnel
