The Emerging Systems Division focuses research and development on a broad spectrum of capabilities that are critical to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) defence systems. These include antenna design and electromagnetics, as well as next-wave technologies in the areas of lasers and advanced materials.

Composite R&D Engineer

In this role, you will:

- Plan and develop workflow for the design, fabrication and characterisation of composite structures
- Interpret 3D models and 2D sketches to design fabrication processes for composite structures
- Prepare the manufacturing drawings with detailed fabrication process instructions
- be involved in the hands-on fabrication of composite structures with various processes such as wet layup, prepreg layup and resin infusion
- take part in the characterization of composite materials structural properties such as flexural strength, in-plane shear, adhesive shear, tension and compression
- Source for novel composite materials and/or new fabrication strategies to enable high performance composite structures

**Requirements**:

- Master’s / Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace / Mechanical Engineering / Materials Engineering
- Experienced in theory and practical aspects of composite fabrication and its related processes e.g. wet layup, pre-preg layup, resin infusion etc.
- Proficient use of CAD tools, such as Solidworks, Solidedge for 3D model preparation
- Knowledge in structural design and stress analysis
- Knowledge in mechanical behaviour of materials and composite structures
- Ability to plan and carry out hand-on fabrication work
