**Job Description**:

- Summary:

- The Director, Tax will be responsible for compensation tax matters in the East Asia region, working closely with internal HR, Tax, Finance and Legal teams. The responsibilities for this newly created role include:
- Lead the development, design and implementation of long term incentive plans (LTIPs) for employees based in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Singapore. This includes Brookfield Asset Management Ltd’s corporate LTIPs (stock option plan, restricted share plan, etc) and private fund carried interest structures.-
- Provide ongoing tax advice and support to HR and executives internally regarding compensation plans-
- Co-ordinate with external firms to obtain advice related to tax and other regulatory compliance requirements covering equity plan filing obligations, annual tax filing, equity tax filing and year end settlements for Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Singapore.-
- Deal with local government authorities (ex: China SAFE authority and tax authority, IRAS in Singapore, IRA in Hong Kong, ATO and ASIC in Australia, National Tax Service in Korea and National Tax Agency in Japan) and other external stakeholders (such as China SAFE account banks) when requested such as for equity registration requirements, annual reporting requirements, tax audits and inquiries.-
- Work closely with HR and Tax in the region to set up timelines and proactively manage the monthly, quarterly and annual payroll, tax and/or regulatory (ex: local government inhabitant tax in Japan and China SAFE registration) filing requirements for compensation programs in APAC-
- Coordinate the provision of tax information and work with HR on the communication to employees to assist them with their personal tax filings, as required-
- Work closely with external service providers to provide tax advice to HR on employee compensation structures including dual employment and director arrangements.-
- Work closely with HR, the Global Tax Team and external service provider on employee relocations and related cross border tax implications, including compliance requirements in local countries-
- Working with the HR and Tax teams, provide advice on tax impacts arising from employee benefit programs provided across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Singapore such as pension scheme, employee insurances, and ad hoc benefits.-
- Monitor changes in tax and legislative landscape and related impact on compensation programs and monitor market practice and evolving compensation structure trends in the region.- Experience
- At least 6 years experience in a Top Tier Accounting Firm focusing mainly on compensation tax matters is strongly desirable.
- Possess a solid understanding of local regulatory requirements and working culture in the region.
