Roles & Responsibilities

Operations & Portfolio Monitoring

  • Capital planning – Coordinate with the parent's finance team to plan yearly capital allocation to the venture arm.
  • Budgeting & forecasting – Develop and track the venture arm's annual operating budget, portfolio follow-on budgets, and exit projections.
  • Investment process support – support investment team in completing the investment process and payment, and post investment management.
  • Support internal fund set up, prepare investment and subscription agreement, internal paper for approval.
  • Governance – Ensure investments follow internal approval processes, corporate policies, and delegated authorities.

Portfolio Management

  • Maintain internal dashboards on portfolios funds and companies.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly reporting to management.
  • Understand and monitor financials and KPIs of portfolios and flag out any potential issues to management and investment team eg. cash burn, fair valuation change, business model and etc.
  • For fund portfolios, regular catch up with fund managers and bring in relevant investment managers to follow-up on interesting pipelines.
  • Contract oversight – Track shareholder agreements, investment rights, and milestone-based disbursements.
  • Process improvement – constant improve and adhere to best practice of investment process and operations; automation of internal processes as much as possible leveraging on latest tools or technologies

Finance & Budgeting

  • Budgeting & forecasting – Develop and track the venture arm's annual operating budget, portfolio follow-on budgets, and exit projections.
  • Working with parent company's finance team in preparing financial reports for fund.
  • Coordinate with internal audit or external auditors reviewing investment valuations or governance.
  • Tax reporting, liasing with tax agent if needed for fund or individual investments.
  • Management payment process.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Policy adherence – Ensure venture activities comply with parent company risk, ESG, and ethical guidelines.
  • Manage 3rd party vendors for risk review internally.
  • Manage fund licensing requirements and regulators' expectations.
  • Manage reporting to various regulatory bodies including MAS, CRA.

Others

  • Maintain company's linkedin page and website.
  • Any other matters that is related to operations or assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degreen in accountancy, CA or ACCA qualified
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and project manage
  • Prior experience with venture capital funds is preferred
  • Detailed oriented
  • Audit background in a public accounting firm would be an advantage
  • Technically strong in financial reporting and accounting standards
  • Ability to work quickly on time-sensitive projects in a flexible, collaborative and create manner.
  • Adaptable and a very quick learner
  • Interest in startups and venture capital industry is a must
