Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical and process systems and will play a critical role in project cost estimation, tender processes, and material management. This position demands expertise in cost estimation and management, effective contractor coordination, and material control to support the successful execution of construction projects.

Job Responsibilities

Tender and Site Walks

  • Participate in tender site walks to assess project requirements and constraints.
  • Lead site surveys to collect accurate data for project planning and estimation.
  • Prepare tender overviews
  • Prepare Vendor status checklists
  • Raise queries (RFI & RFC) for clarification and additional information.

Mechanical and Process Systems

  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and experience in:

  • Mechanical Wet Systems: Chilled Water (CHW), Condenser Water (CDW), and Drain Water (DR).

  • Mechanical Dry Systems: HVAC and Mechanical Ventilation Ductwork.
  • Process Wet Systems: Process Cooling Water (PCW), Compressed Dry Air (CDA), Nitrogen (N₂), and Wastewater Drainage.
  • Process Dry Systems: Exhaust Ductwork.

Technical Drawings and Layouts

  • Interpret and analyze technical documents, drawings, and specifications to meet client requirements.
  • Generate isometric drawings and sketch layouts to support contractor quotation preparation.

Scope of Work and Bill of Quantities

  • Develop detailed Scope of Work (SOW) and Bills of Quantities (BoQ).
  • Issue SOW and BoQ to contractors for quotation and tendering purposes.

Quotation Management

  • Review vendor quotations for technical compliance and accuracy.
  • Compile and analyze vendor quotations for cost comparison.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager on cost analysis, vendor selection, and pricing finalization.
  • Prepare and submit project quotations after final review.
  • Maintain and update project tender listings for reference.

Material Procurement and Control

  • Identify, finalize, and procure materials in line with project specifications and timelines.
  • Prepare contract agreements and/or purchase orders with finalized terms and conditions.
  • Monitor material usage to minimize waste and ensure project efficiency.
  • Track project variations, additional scope of work, and contractor progressive claims.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Coordinate with project teams, clients/consultant, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth tender & project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance to vendors during the tender to construction phases.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying or similar roles within the construction industry, with specific expertise in:

  • Mechanical Wet Systems (CHW, CDW, DR)

  • Mechanical Dry Systems (HVAC & MV Ductwork)
  • Process Wet Systems (PCW, CDA, N₂, Drainage)
  • Process Dry Systems (Exhaust Ductwork)

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting/design software.

  • Strong understanding of SOW and BoQ preparation.
  • Knowledge of construction cost estimation and material procurement processes.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative team player, adaptable to fast-paced environments.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
