Job Purpose

To champion the development of a strong mutual help student community and student mental health through mental wellness programmes and outreach activties with stakeholders to promote self-help strategies, help-seeking and community support in the student community. To provide case management and socio-emotional support for students in need and students undergoing disciplinary or rehabilitation processes.

Duties & Responsibilities :

1. Community Development and Outreach
2. Lead workgroups to work with multiple stakeholders and committees to establish, monitor and review policies, guidelines and best practices for wellness initiatives.
3. Collaborate with Faculties/Schools, hostels and student organisations to organise mental wellness programmes (online and face-to-face) for students.
4. Plan, organise and implement programmes to increase students' awareness of mental wellbeing, university wellness support resources, stress coping methods, help-seeking, helping behaviours and mental health stigma.
5. Participate in the production of social media and online wellness resource materials for students.
6. Case Management
7. Deliver individualised casework interventions for students in managing and coping with academic and personal issues.
8. Partner stakeholders to assist Faculties/Schools to promote mental wellbeing and support students with mental health concerns.
9. Conduct casework interventions and support to students undergoing disciplinary and rehabilitation processes.
10. Provide information and referral services to link client to appropriate social services.
11. Supervision
12. Provide supervision, guidance and coaching to supervisees.
13. Training and Facilitation
14. Plan, administer and facilitate wellness, mental health literacy programmes to raise students' awareness in stress management, mental health conditions and basic helping skills.
15. Guide and mentor students or students group in mental health advocacy or wellness projects.
16. Engagement with Faculties/Schools and Academic Units
17. Work with stakeholders to bridge the academic support needed by students e.g. academic mentorship, academic advising programme, study strategies and tips etc.
18. Organise mental health literacy workshops for interested faculty and admin staff to help them recognise early signs if student mental health concerns and ways to support students.
19. Management of Peer Student Supporters (PSS)
20. Work with Faculties to set up PSS programmes.
21. Maintain a network of PSS and organise regular sharing of information and best practices.
22. Participate in the recruitment, training, management and supervision of PSS in operating OSA's PitStops (a place for students to relax and recharge) in NUS Campus.

Qualifications

• A recognized Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Counselling, Special Education or Psychology.
• At least 3 years of case management, preferably with youths or young adults.
• At least 2 years of experience in training or lecturing, preferably in wellness and mental health.
• Resourceful with good organizational and planning skills.
• Able to work in a team and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Social media and IT savvy with basic designning skills (Canva etc.)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
