Job Purpose
Assisting the Master to oversee the operations of the hostel and residential life in conjunction with the hostel’s strategic planning.
**Responsibilities**:
- Handle Student Admissions, Student Accommodation, Outreach, Corporate Communications & Student Life
- Research/ benchmark of residential life best practices and setting up of SOPs in the hostel
- Assist students to settle into the hostel through orientation programme and ongoing residential programmes
- Student advisory to residential activities to ensure that operational planning and direction is in line with program objectives, procedures (e.g. risk assessment, budget proposals), guidance and problem resolution
- Communal standards enforcement in the hostel, outreach to students on compliance and maintaining student disciplinary records in NUS databases
- Pandemic support in hostel - safe management measures, isolation procedures, rostered routine testing, meals support
- Support the Master in crisis management cases including intervention, response and follow up
- Advisory to students with issues and coordinating with Resident Fellows on such resident visits in the hostel
- Assist the Master in the recruitment, selection, placement and performance appraisal of Resident Fellows and admin staff
- Assist the Master in budgeting and finance
- Liaison person between the hostel and other departments on hardware related issues, fire and safety issues and student matters.
- Provide timely and effective administrative, logístical and welfare support to the Resident Staff and students
- Manage projects in collaboration with other university offices and residential student groups to enrich the residential experiences of NUS students
- Handling ad-hoc projects as and when assignedQualifications
- A University degree with at least 5 years of managerial and supervisory experience
- A strong understanding of student life in a residential environment
- Analytical, strong planning and organizational skills
- Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates excellent skills in teamwork, collaboration and attention to details
- Organized and able to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Ability to be flexible and nimble to be effective in diverse settings
