General Manager

Position Overview:

The General Manager (GM) is a key member of the senior leadership team responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, strategic implementation, and organizational management of the charity. Working closely with the Executive Director and Board, the GM ensures that the charity's mission, values, and objectives are achieved efficiently, sustainably, and with measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Implementation

2. Support the Executive Director and Board in developing and executing the organization's strategic plan.

3. Translate strategic goals into actionable annual plans and performance metrics.

4. Drive operational excellence across all departments.

5. Operations & Administration

6. Oversee daily operations, ensuring programmes and services are delivered effectively and efficiently.

7. Manage administrative functions, including facilities, procurement, and IT systems.

8. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and best practices.

9. Financial Management

10. Work with the Finance team to develop and manage annual budgets.

11. Monitor financial performance, ensure accountability, and optimise resource allocation.

12. Support fundraising initiatives and ensure proper financial stewardship of donor funds.

13. Human Resource Management

14. Lead and support department heads to build a high-performing and motivated team.

15. Oversee talent acquisition, training, development, and performance management.

16. Foster a positive organizational culture that aligns with the charity's mission and values.

17. Programme Management

18. Ensure that programmes are aligned with organizational goals and deliver measurable social impact.

19. Monitor performance and outcomes, ensuring quality and effectiveness.

20. Oversee programme evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement.

21. Stakeholder Engagement

22. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, government agencies, volunteers, and the community.

23. Represent the organization at public events, media engagements, and stakeholder meetings.

24. Support the Executive Director in advocacy and public relations initiatives.

25. Governance & Compliance

26. Ensure compliance with the Charities Act, Commissioner of Charities guidelines, and other relevant laws.

27. Prepare and present operational and financial reports to the Board.
28. Maintain transparency and accountability in all organizational activities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Social Sciences, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role within the non-profit, social service, or corporate sector.
• Proven experience in operations management, strategic planning, and financial oversight.
• Strong understanding of Singapore's non-profit landscape, charity governance, and regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for social impact and commitment to the organization's mission.
• 5.5-days work week.
