Summary

The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for delivering engaging and knowledgeable shopping experience for customers, with a focus on Sports Cards and/or knowledge of TCG products and trading card games. This role combines strong customer service skills with category-specific product knowledge to support sales, foster community engagement, and uphold store standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Engagement & Sales

· Greet and assist customers, offering knowledgeable guidance on Sports Cards and/or knowledge of TCG products.

· Answer hobby-related inquiries and help customers find products based on their needs and interests.

· Represent the store professionally during in-store visits and external events.

2. Transaction Management & Product Intake

· Process purchases, returns, and store credits accurately using the POS system.

· Accurately price merchandise and conduct transparent buying transactions.

· Assist with screening cards for grading and guide customers through submission procedures.

3. Store Presentation & Security

· Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment.

· Perform routine upkeep tasks such as box folding and trash removal.

· Maintain floor presence to deter theft and ensure a secure shopping atmosphere.

4. Marketing & Community Engagement

· Represent the store at public-facing events like card shows and trade nights.

· Support social media content creation and contribute to marketing initiatives.

· Help promote brand awareness through in-person interactions and digital channels.

5. Operations & Logistics

· Assist with preparing and packaging outgoing shipments according to store guidelines.

· Stay informed on hobby trends, product releases, and community culture to enhance customer experience.

Qualifications

· Strong background in Sports Cards and/or knowledge of TCG products, trading card games, with working knowledge of either preferred.

· Proven customer service experience in retail or sales, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Responsible, dependable, and self-motivated; able to work independently and uphold store standards.

· Comfortable engaging in social media content, promotions, and in-person events.

· Ability to communicate effectively with both hobby veterans and newcomers, including explaining products, trends, and hobby basics.

· Patience, professionalism, and the ability to engage with customers of all ages and knowledge levels.

· Basic computer skills for POS and inventory systems.

Role-Specific Qualifications

1. TCG Specialist

· Deep understanding of Pokémon TCG and other trading card games.

· Familiarity with sealed products, singles, accessories, rarity levels, and market values.

· Up to date on new releases, meta shifts, tournaments, and franchise news.

· Ability to relate to community culture and help customers build collections or decks.

2. Sports Card Specialist

· Solid knowledge of major Sports Cards markets (e.g., soccer, basketball, baseball).

· Understanding of key players, sets, product types (e.g., Topps, Panini), and grading/scarcity factors.

· Comfortable discussing card values, historical trends, and hobby news with collectors.

· Familiarity with both retail and hobby product cycles and purchasing behavior.

Physical Requirements
