Job Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and rebuild servers including hardware, peripherals, directories, storage, and services based on organizational standards and project needs.

  • Develop and maintain standardized procedures for system installation and configuration.

  • Research and recommend innovative and automated solutions for system administration to improve efficiency and scalability.

  • Conduct daily system monitoring to ensure hardware, servers, and key processes are operating effectively. Review logs, monitor backups, and carry out related administrative tasks.

  • Manage daily backup operations: verify backups, create recovery media, and oversee media rotation and offsite storage.

  • Provide 24/7 technical support as needed. Investigate and resolve issues, offering professional solutions and recommendations.

  • Gain deep understanding of system infrastructure and its integration with business applications. Offer technical guidance and expertise as required.

  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, including simulations and actual recovery events.

Required Qualifications

  • Solid experience with cloud infrastructure.

  • Strong troubleshooting and support skills, including hardware/software recovery and coordination with stakeholders.

  • Hands-on expertise in managing and maintaining middleware and application platforms such as:

    • Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, AIX

    • Middleware: WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ, Tivoli Directory Services, WebSphere ND, Edge Server, IBM Cognos, Solace, RabbitMQ

    • Backup Solutions: Tivoli Storage Manager

    • Storage: IBM V7000/V9000 SAN systems

    • Virtualization: VMWare, Red Hat Virtualization

    • Other Tools: BOE, Web Servers, HACMP, HMC, SAN Switches, UPS, Samba, Flashcopy, VIOS

  • Experience in Windows desktop installation and support.

  • Proficiency in WebSphere, IBM Integration Bus (IIB), and application deployment.

  • Ability to script tasks and automate application deployment and monitoring.

  • Strong command of Unix shell scripting.

  • Regularly apply OS patches, upgrades, and configure new services as needed.

  • Maintain and develop backup strategies that align with business and operational requirements.

  • Perform system performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimization.

  • Evaluate and apply software security patches and ensure system integrity.

  • Generate and maintain documentation for operational and configuration procedures.

  • Support vendor and incident management, and coordinate technical recovery efforts when needed.

  • Plan and deploy application upgrades and generate system performance reports.
