
Sales Director, Colocation

This position offers you the opportunity to join the global leader in the data center space and make a significant impact pushing into new areas. Your mission will be to expand our relationships with colocation clients, digging in deep and wide to find new opportunities. We have many colocation customers - more than anyone else - but there are business units within those accounts that we haven't even touched yet. In many cases the heavy lifting will be done already, so you'll take point on the more subtle work of spreading the net. This role has elements of account management, but we're looking for a driven hunter who also can collaborate with other sales professionals.
**What you’ll do**
- Create and execute an effective business plan for your area of focus to meet objectives
- Clearly articulate the value proposition of Digital Realty colocation products, while differentiating product offerings from those of our competitors
- Develop proposals and the associated preparation / presentation of literature
- Quickly establish relationships at the VP level or higher, managing multiple goals and strategy in large accounts and sales involving multiple decision makers, and providing direction and coordination to close deals
- Negotiate deals and contract business terms and conditions with customers, staying in line with the parameters provided by Digital Realty management
- Present basic engineering principles in relation to power and cooling
- Plan preliminary design, presentation and evaluation of customer colocation solutions including capital budgeting, operational detail and scheduling of proposed projects
**What you’ll need**
- Seven to ten years of experience selling colocation IT solutions, including a track record of success in data centers, colocation, and/or telecom
- Proven skill in understanding colocation data center needs, defining requirements and customizing data center solutions for a variety of organizations
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong drive and a competitive spirit
- The ability to develop and close deals both individually and in collaboration with teammates
- The ability to effectively navigate and coordinate both within the organization and among external stakeholders
